I've many boxes around Durham and further afield. My main boxes are near waterhouses in a wood. I have got tit boxes and a tawny owl box and hope to be putting up barn owl box soon. I mainly get tits and a tawny but I have had robin and a pied fly one year. I also have about 10 barn owl boxes to manage around Durham. My friend and myself took over a barn owl box scheme in Alston that can be hard work. We have again about 10 sites I also have a little owl box scheme in Northumberland and a pied fly box scheme near slaley with over a hundred boxes and 3 tawny boxes to and a barn owl box. Lastly I have 60 odd boxes in the woods near my house.

Hi ,
we've got 6-8 tree sparrows visiting our garden daily and they're beginning to look interested in breeding - we're thinking of putting several tit-type nestboxes together to attract them. Is this a good idea? Also, we're really interested in putting some boxes around our local nature reserve which has regular Willow Tits. How do we get permission to do this and is there anything that Willow Tits would specifically need?

Great your getting boxes up. Just put the boxes round the garden. I've got tree sparrow boxes on a farm that are spread out and they all get used. I forgot to mention them on my lengthy list. Find out who owns the wood first then approach them in person or email and explain your plans and ideas.
